Sylvie is one of the most beautiful and loving dogs I have ever met. Today, she is full of life—always ready for mischief, always seeking a cuddle, and without a doubt, the most adored member of the Friendicoes SECA family. Looking at her now, with her sparkling eyes and wagging tail, it’s hard to imagine the suffering she endured not so long ago.

Five years ago, Sylvie lived with a family in Vasant Vihar. On the outside, it seemed like the perfect life for a dog. She had children to play with, a warm bed to sleep in, bowls of food and water, and plenty of space to run around. For a while, she was cherished.

But as she grew, Sylvie became what all young dogs are—playful, curious, and sometimes a little naughty. She chewed shoes, tugged at sofa corners, scattered paper and toys all over the house. What should have been laughed off as puppy mischief began to frustrate the family. Busy with their work, they found her boundless energy too much to handle. The scolding’s turned into anger, and soon her happy days were over.

She was tied up for long hours, often left without food or water. Walks stopped. Playtime ended. Little by little, Sylvie’s world shrank until she was no longer a loved pet, but simply a dog left outside to guard the house.

The lowest point came when the family went on a two-week holiday. They left Sylvie tied to a garage window—no food, no water, no light, and no air. Alone and helpless, she cried for days.

It was a kind neighbour who finally saved her. Hearing her faint cries, he peered through the small garage window and saw her lying weak and motionless on the floor. The cheerful dog he once knew had become a frightened shadow of herself, reduced to skin and bones, with a chain so tight around her neck that the wound had festered.

He broke in, gave her food and water, and called us at Friendicoes SECA. That’s how Sylvie finally found her way to us.

I will never forget the day she arrived. She was scared, wounded, and unsure of everyone around her. Any sudden sound made her flinch, and she followed me like a shadow, as if afraid I might disappear. That night, I gave her a warm bed by my side. After a gentle bath and a good meal, she curled up and, for the first time in a long while, slept in peace.

Day by day, we watched her heal. Slowly, her wounds closed, her strength returned, and her spirit began to shine again. She learned to play, to run with her friends, to sneak food from their bowls, and to enjoy her long walks. Every small step she took back toward happiness felt like a miracle.

Today, Sylvie is the heart of Friendicoes SECA. She greets everyone with love, mischief, and endless energy. From a broken, neglected soul, she has blossomed into a joyful, spirited dog who brings smiles to all around her.

Sylvie’s story is one of survival, love, and second chances. She was rescued just in time—and in giving her a new life, she has given us joy beyond measure.
